Ron lived across the alley and one house up from me throughout all 12 years of school so we spent many, many hours playing together. We built "forts" and "hideouts" in the tall weeds on the north side of the railway tracks and even had a pet black snake at one time. We would ride our bikes out south of town and did crazy/fun things like running naked on the shale bed of the 2' deep stream across from Brian Frank's farm and roasting field corn in a field just west of the Belton cemetery (found out it is a lot tougher than sweet corn). Also, while wading in "Cemetery Creek" I sliced my foot on a broken bottle, and we walked back home with my arm around Ron's shoulder since I couldn't walk on but one foot. Ron was a great friend and playmate.
