About Me Judith Anne Weems, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 14, 2020. She died peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born Judith Anne Brown, in Greene County, Ohio, to the late Paul Walker Brown and Gladys Iona (née Hefner) Brown. She was preceded in death by her brother Julian “Nicki” Brown. She met her future husband and best friend, James P. “Doc” Weems of Portsmouth, Ohio, in 1963, and the two married in 1965, celebrating their 55th anniversary this past August. Judy was a caregiver at heart, and it was fitting that she would go into nursing, graduating from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1965. She was dedicated to her profession and finished her 45-year career in Lincoln, Nebraska, retiring in 2010. Throughout her life, she loved traveling, both with her family when her children were young and with her husband in retirement when she and Doc embarked on a ten-year long adventure of full-time RV traveling and volunteering across the country. She also loved to put her hands in the dirt, especially when she visited the garden her oldest son made for her in Nashville. She was a devout Catholic and dedicated mother to six children, as well as a second mother to countless others, a fierce hugger, and a loving soul with a radiant smile. Her warmth and kindness were unending. She had a way of connecting with everyone she met, learning their life stories within minutes of meeting them. Her happiest moments were when she was with her whole family, especially during their raucous family game nights. Carrying on her example of love, strength, and kindness will be her beloved family: her husband, James “Doc” Weems; their six children, Jennifer (Matt) O’Leary, Aiken, SC; James (Megan) Weems, Nashville, TN; Jeff (Cristy) Weems, Nashville, TN; Jill (Brian) Higgins, Seattle, WA; Julie (Steve) Salas, Pittsburgh, PA; Jessica Weems, Huntersville, NC; her brother, Douglas R. Brown, Houston, TX; her seven grandchildren, Brady, Tommy, Maggie, Leo, Milo, Adeline, and Nora; sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and cousins, as well as countless others who will miss her terribly. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Judy may be made to St. Mary Youth Activities PO Box 438 Aiken SC 29802 or to Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee www.somethingextra.org . In memory of Judy, please consider doing a random act of kindn...(read more)
