Chad Balwanz

Retire from the US Army in 2000 as a Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4). Served in the 5th Special Forces Group and commanded a Special Forces "A" Team during Operation Desert Storm. Since retirement I have worked for the Department of Defense serving 6 tours as a DOD civilian in Afghanistan and Iraq. Currently the DOD liaison to the Detroit FBI Field Office. I will retire from government service in June 2015 and return to my home near Glencoe, OH.

1 yr @ NAS Memphis going to electronics school.
3 plus years @ MCAS El Toro with H&MS-11 MAG-11 in California. Repaired TACAN units, CRYPTO Gear, Data Link Sys, UHF, VHF Radios from F-4N & RF-4B Phantoms. With various T.A.D. deployments of 4-8 wks to MCAS Yuma, NAS Fallon, Nellis AFB, Tyndall AFB, MCAS Kaneohe along with a 30 day stay
in Dennmark for a NATO excercise. My wife (BHS-72) did not like this aspect of Marine life.
Got a job in the electronics field in Southern Cal after discharge. Still with same company
for 30 + years.

Marine Corps, 6 Years
Steve joined after leaving college and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He served 4 years of active duty and two years of inactive reserve after finishing his enlistment. He is especially proud of serving in the Corps and recently came back from touring the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico. As he says to many of the Marines he has met over the last 45 years, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine."
