The year is wrong, My grand father who turns 95 this summer. Graduated in 1929. He is fine and sharp as a tack.He resides in Crystal in the summer and Florida in the winter. He was the state high jump champion in 1929. He would like to give his medal to the school, he beleaves he was the first state champion. He tells the story of how his coach in track received a letter from the state that asked if any one could come from his team and would compete. He said kid you are the only one who would have a chance.So grandpa said he packed a day bag and hitched a ride to Lansing. You must remember the only road then was grand river and it was only one lane. He hitch hiked down, won the medal and hitch hiked back on the same day. My god what a way to be a state champion. He never told me this until last year,after I found it on the net.
