| About Me | Hello, my name is Christina. I am 28 years old. I am wise and determined. I have been married for 7 years June 3, 2006. I have a sister and a brother. I live with my Husband in beautiful modular home. In the summer of 1999 a virus named Transverse Myelitis attacked my spinal cord when I was only 14, a struggle I am trying very hard to deal with this tragedy. Many years of Physical therapy have past, but still more to come hopefully not to much more. Retraining my muscles is a difficult task. I came from being totally paralyzed. I had not one pint of strength in my body from the neck down. As soon as the virus struck immediately my family began researching. No good news was found. What little information that was found did not shed any light on the situation, it informed us that there was very little chance, to be able to walk, and if there was no movement within three months that there would not be any movement ever. Weeks have past still no movement; naturally the imagination began sit in. After 3 weeks from July 3rd to 24th of July I woke up on a Saturday morning in the hospital, I started to move my right arm. After all the praying finally we saw that the process of gaining muscle begun. The doctor's told me that I will never move or walk again, “I told the doctor what you what want to say, but we will see what happens at the end”. I can walk with a little help but my balance is not steady. I have proven the doctor's wrong so many times by the progress I have been making, that makes them think twice. All I have to do is believe in god, continue to do my therapy every day, and I walk again, and get back everything that I had before. I have worked so hard to get where I am today, and I thank God and my family everyday for the strength they have given me to keep going. Having this tragedy happen to me did not just come with bad news. I discovered that I could sing and write songs. If this had never happened I would never have known I had the talent of singing. Two of My biggest dreams is to be the first Christian pop singer that is in a wheelchair and to be super model. I have done many photo shoots. Many do not believe that people with disabilities can achieve their dreams. That is where I come in and say that is not true, I am going to be one to not only prove to myself but to prove and show people I can achieve my dreams with or without a Disability. I have my associate’s degree in Health Care Administration as well as my Bachelors in Health Care Administration / Emergency Management and now stepping my foot into my Masters in Businesses Administra...(read more) |
