Gerald Lewis (Jerry) Robinson was born January 19, 1946. At an early age he was adopted by his loving parents, Marguerite Gertrude Thomas Williams Robinson and Lewis Woodson Robinson. Jerry died June 11, 2016 in Santa Clara County, Ca.
Jerry grew up in Bedford starting kindergarten there, then later graduated from BCHS with the class of 1964. He participated in track and played football while in high school and as a friend to many. He attended Junior College in Clarinda before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He served in Vietnam and held the rand of Corporal. After serving in Vietnam, Jerry suffered with several health problems caused by the exposure to Agent Orange. He worked for many years at an oil station in the San Francisco area. At the time of his death, he had been living in San Jose, Ca.
One of Jerry’s favorite things was to watch sports on TV. If he didn’t have TV service and every sports station available he was not happy. He enjoyed calling people he knew while growing up and he collected military memorabilia.
His father, Lewis, died in 1963 and his mother, Marguerite in 1989, which was the last time he was in Bedford. His sister, Connie, died in 1993. Jerry had always talked about coming back to Bedford. He wanted to see for himself how everything had changed. He still thought the football field should be down at the east end of town where it could flood. He vividly remembered everyone on is paper route, and where everyone in school lived. He remembered every car all the guys dove, which was something he never had; he rode his bicycle or walked most places.
Jerry’s ashes were interred at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella, Ca. He will be missed by many but his memories will remain forever.
