Dora Kae Prather, age 70, of Clarinda, Iowa, entered into peace Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa. Visitation with family will be held Thursday, June 30, 2016 5-7 p.m. at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Southwest Iowa Humane Society, Clarinda, Iowa. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on our website at, www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.
Dora Kae Prather was born May 28, 1946 to Ward E. Poore and Yvonne (Blaine) Poore in Plattville, Iowa. She was the second of seven children. She grew up in Taylor County and attended Bedford Community Schools. Dora Kae and Paul Prather were united in marriage March 12, 1966 in Clarinda, Iowa. They had fifty treasured years together.
Dora Kae was a hard worker and had many business adventures through the years including operating a restaurant and she and Paul owned a custodial business that served the Lisle Corporation, EZ Way Corporation, Barker’s Implement, Citizen’s Bank, Lied Library, and many private homes.
Dora Kae had a great sense of humor and loved to pull jokes on people. She loved life and her family and friends were very important to her. Dora was the rock of her family and was always there to help when needed. She had a special relationship with her sister Sara. Dora enjoyed her home and especially loved working her flower garden. Her pet cats and Misty her dog were also very special to her.
Preceding Dora Kae in death were her parents and brothers, Stephen Poore (infant) and James Poore.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Paul Prather of Clarinda; brothers, David Poore of Hopkins, Missouri, Richard Poore and wife Sheryl of Gilbert, Arizona, Roger Poore and wife Debbie of Clarinda, Iowa; sister, Sara Robinson and husband Don of Clarinda, Iowa; nieces and nephews including special nieces and nephew, Emily Sanders and husband Doug, Christina Landess and husband Jason and Jon Poore and wife Linda; many great nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
