Mr. Carl Dean Hensley, age 62, of Crockett, passed away Monday, November 10, 2008 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mr. Hensley was born December 1, 1945 in Clarinda, Iowa and was a resident in Crockett since 1986.
Mr. Hensley was a veteran of the Iowa National Guard. Mr. Hensley was a lifetime member of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association. Mr. Hensley was a truck driver having owned and operated C. D. Hensley Trucking Company and was currently leased to Dallas Mavis Trucking. “Papa Dean” was a beloved father and grandfather and was a wonderful dad to all of his children.
Survivors include his wife of 5 years, Carla Lynn Hensley of Crockett; children, Tammy Spray and Husband Brent of Henrietta, Dr. Jr, Hensley and wife Valerie, of Lenox, Iowa, Kim Fmelpzer and husband, Mark of Kansas City, Missouri, Levi Hensley of Bedford, Iowa, April Hansen and husband Casey, of Tyler, Tiffany Vickers and husband Jerrod of Crockett, Megan Yount, of Lufkin, Carrie Sullivan and husband Rick of Palestine, Joshua R. Ground and wife Alicia and Sarah Grounds of Crockett; grandchildren Nick, Ty, Erick, Lauren, Jared, Noah, Erin, Ella, Jayden, Tristan, Keirsten, Preston, Caleb, Courtlin, Emily, and Peyton; mother Helen Hensley of Bedford, Iowa; brothers Eldon Hensley and Wife Linda of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister Bonnie Papageorge of Clinton Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his father Ralph “Bill” Hensley; brother Donald Hensley, and sister Phyllis Craddock.
Memorial services for Mr. Carl Dean Hensley were held Friday, November 14 at 11:00 am in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev Dennis Ivey officiating.
