Linda Lea Wright Cherry was born June 29, 1946 in the Clarinda, Iowa hospital. She was the second child of Clato and Virginia (Myers) Wright.
Linda spent most of her childhood living in Conway, Iowa and attended the Conway Consolidated School. After the Taylor County Schools reorganized in 1959, she attended school in Bedford.
In 1961, the family moved to Mesa, Ariz., because of her mother’s ailing health.
Linda graduated from Mesa High School in 1964, then attended Arizona State University where she graduated in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education – a minor in art.
After graduation, Linda worked two years at the Motorola Plant in Mesa, then moved to Missouri where she taught school in the Prairie Hill and Salisbury school systems. While there, she received a lifetime teaching certificate from Missouri.
Linda’s next move was to Gila Bend, Ariz., where she taught school. On December 26, 1977, at the Grace United Methodist Church, she married Air Force Staff Sergeant Robert Cherry of Sherman, Texas.
Then their adventures began, First Stop, Bossier City, LA., Barksdale Air Force Base, February 26, 1980, their beloved daughter, Amanda Ann, joined them. Robert had to spend some time in Korea. Linda and Amanda spent that time with her folks in Mesa.
Next was Vanderburg Air Force, California. While there Linda took classes making reproduction porcelain dolls, which she mastered quite well. Also her art skills were polished painting the Lompoc flower fields near there.
Then the Air Force took them to Boloxie, Miss. Lanley Air Force Base was next in Virginia.
In 1989, her husband Robert retired as a Master Sergeant and they moved back to Mesa, Ariz. Linda substitute taught until 2000.
Linda was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 39 years and the Order of Amaranth for three years. Her last years were also spent with many crafts and scrapbooking.
On June 26, 20094 {sic 2004}, Linda passed away from a heart attack while on dialysis. She was also suffering from complications from diabetes and cancer.
Graveside services and interment were held Friday, July, 2, 2004 in the City of Mesa Cemetery, Mes {sic Mesa}, Ariz.
