| About Me | Sometimes I feel as if life is just one big game of Chess! This is what has been happening for almost the past 30 yrs::: We have 2 sons -Paul, 23, going to Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. Phillip, 21, is at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI. Both are blessed with intelligence from their dad,( Eric has a membership in MENSA) and musical talent which they got from both of us, but the ability to pick up ANY musical instrument and play it well enough to perform-they got from Eric) (They got their track & sports ability from me though.) Eric & brother, Kurt ran a music & antiques store-mostly juke boxes & pinballs etc. Eric got into collecting old cars that led into motorcycles, ambulances, hearses, snow mobiles& boats. He decided to take the LSATS & ended up at Marquette Law School & became a lawyer- which he did for 10 yrs., in Waukesha. Then he felt God calling him to the ministry & we up & moved to Dubuque, Iowa so he could go to seminary. Wartburg-an ELCA Lutheran school--he hated the ultra liberal almost anti- christian thought there & transferred to the University of Dubuque---the Theological Seminary. Luckily we bought a house that was in between Wartburg & U.D.Theo.Sem. Short story-he liked it & we are now Methodists! Dubuque is a very historic & beautiful city-on the Mississippi River; bluffs, hills etc. We enjoyed our 3 yrs. there. Eric got a church in Neenah Wi. We bought a house in Menasha. This is where we are now. Bad news-Eric had a brain anuerysm in Dec. of 2004. Totally turned our world upside down.=the boys were in high school-one SR. the other a Fr. Short story, he is in a nursing home, confined to a wheelchair. I won't EVEN go into the stuff we, had to go through. The world churning things we, I, still go through. But..now I'm an empty nester by force of the circumstances. Not what I would have dreamed our "golden" yrs. would be! I'm working at the high school--I started out as a sign language interpreter-but there aren't any hearing impaired students presently--so I'm in the special ed. program---as a para-pro or teacher's aid. This sort of affords me flexibility in case I need to leave during the day. In the past 4 yrs. , I lost my mom-sudden heart attack (Feb. 2005); my aunt-(Oct.2007)who left a house to me & my sisters & dad. July 2008, my youngest sister, Laura, died from pancreatic cancer--on my b-day. We all were there with her. I've become diabetic with loads of medical issues to deal with. October of 2009, Faith, Eric's mom, died from complications from a fall, but also from 3 types of Cancer-breast, bladder, kidney.The past 6 yrs. have been bearable, I would say, only due to so many prayers that have sustained me & the boys. God and faith in Him HAS been the difference. It is why I can wake up & deal with whatever the day throws at me---& there has been A LOT of other stumbling blocks, & obstacles, to get thrown my way!
