| About Me | Right out of high school I enrolled at the University of Houston and began working at UniRoyal Inc. part time. A few years later, I dropped out of UofH when I got my first radio job at KXYZ am. as a public affairs producer and hosted a 30 minute talk show called "Insight". It was then that I altered my first name of "John" to which all of my family and Bay City friends knew my as, to "Juan" my real name for my TV career. Shortly thereafter, moved to KHOU TV as a photo/journalist. Moved to Laredo, Texas to be the News Director of a new TV station--KVTV. From there have worked in TV stations in Harlingen, San Antonio and Austin. In between TV gigs I was a newspaper report/editor as well. I married twice and recently celebrated 25 years of marriage to my second wife Judy. I have a wonderful son, Juan Amado and a beautiful daughter in law Elisha. They were recently blessed with the arrival of my first ganddaughter, Aliana. Today I write, produce, direct public service programming for Travis County Television. I went back to complete my education that I had began 30 years before and graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Communication studies, so it's never to late!
