About	Henry Black, 85, of San Marcos passed away peacefully on May 17, 2015 from complications due to surgery. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro. Henry graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1946 and TCU in 1950 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. He then joined the Air Force in 1951 and served at Lackland Air Force Base until 1954. Henry returned to school on the GI Bill and received his Master’s Degree in Education from Baylor University. Henry taught World History at Bay City High School until his retirement in 1989. He touched many lives with his wisdom, kindness and humor. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenzie and Irene Black, and great-granddaughter, Amanda Horstman. He is survived by his brother, Richard (Bettie); children, Mike Lively, Pat Lively Toepfer (Fred), and Margaret Lively; grandchildren, Diane Phelan (Casey), Andy Lively (Kristin), Matt Lively, Kristin Toepfer, Eric Toepfer, and Elizabeth Riley (David); great-grandchildren, Lindsay Horstman, Savannah Lively, Megan Lively, Emma Lively, Sam Lively, Abigail Lively, Katherine Lively, James Riley, and Jake Riley.

My sister and I were sharing our most influential teachers. Hers was a professor from college and mine was Mr. Black. He made history fun!
