About Edward “Eddie” G. Jecmenek, 84, of Bay City passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012. He was born on March 12, 1928 in Ellinger, TX to the late Edward Charles & Eleonora Hruska Jecmenek. Eddie graduated from LaGrange High School where he was the class Valedictorian. He continued his education at Blinn Junior College. While at Blinn, he was a four-sport letterman, and received the “Little American” award for sports. Eddie then earned his Bachelors degree at Sam Houston State University. He completed his education by earning his Masters degree at Stephen F. Austin State University. Eddie began his teaching and coaching career at Van Vleck High School. He then came to Bay City High School and taught science and continued coaching. Eddie became an Asst. Principal & Principal serving Bay City High School, Hilliard Junior High, and McAllister Junior High Campuses. In 1969, Eddie became the Assistant Superintendent of Business Affairs for BCISD, a position he held for 22 years. He retired in 1990 with 39 years of dedicated service to education. Eddie was a teacher for the Men’s Wesley Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church of Bay City. He also served as a coach for Bay City Girls Softball Association, was a Master Mason, and a member of the Gulf Coast Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Jessica Jecmenek of Bay City; 2 daughters: Jessica Elizabeth Stone & husband Philip of Bay City, and Eddie Kaye Jecmenek of Sugar Land; son: Joseph McWilliams of Seattle, WA; 3 grandchildren: Amanda Elizabeth Slater & husband Charles of Brazoria, Klaudie Kaye Stone of Huntsville, and Cassidy Leigh McWilliams of Dallas; Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and brother Leon Jecmenek.
