Simmons, married on the rebound; dropped out of Union Seminary to put husband through grad school 65-72 - grad school (MS) and work in education; involved in anti-war movement 70 - moved to Cape Cod 72 - divorced 72-79 - single,teacher on Cape Cod, commercial shellfishing 79-84 - commuted from Cape to Harvard for MDiv degree; internships 85 - married Frank Toppa on the Cape; shared music; moved to Amherst, MA (my first church) 89 - adopted Isaac Anthony Toppa at birth, as premie, from Frank's family 91 - moved to Arlington, MA for my second church - Senior Minister First Parish UU; bought fixer-upper on Cape 84-present - leader/speaker in Institute on Religion in an Age of Science; published, and other presentations in science and religion 2001 - unknowingly contracted Lyme disease, became symptomatic, not diagnosed and treated until 06; Isaac diagnosed with nonverbal learning disorder and I began advocacy work for him in public schools 2006 - while on short-term medical leave from church to treat Lyme disease my colleague worked toward my departure; resigned at end of 06 and Frank, Isaac and I moved to our Cape House; Isaac is at Community College there and ...(read more)
