| Favorite School Memory | I was the President of the Drama Club during our Senior Year. I wrote, directed and authored the Senior School Play and having been told by the then current Vice Principal that the play was "not suitable" and would not go on....and threatened me with not graduating. This did not sit well with me and I was determined the play WOULD go on! And I was determined to fight for my right for the play to go forward and received outstanding support from my Drama Club Members and other Senior students and members of the faculty declare that the play was original, authentic, realistic and well-written ...and that "the show must go on"!!!!! Also starting the Ballou Black Student Union which was an expression of Black Pride and pro-activeness and becoming very, very much involved in politics and the fight for Black Rights which was the forerunner to BLACK L...(read more) |
| About Me | Graduated with numerous honors received several scholarships for public speaking and racial pride and several scholarships to attend college finally settling on attending the American University in DC. Led the American University Black Student Union, OAASATAU and. was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and graudated as American University Outstanding Female Student of 1977. Re-directed career from law towards African/International Development...worked at USAID and Africare as Country Director in Burkina Faso and Niger, served as Regional, Country Director, Senior Field Representative, Director of International Programs and Development, Head of Mission in more than 10 West, East and Southern African countries and in Haiti and Indonesia.....oftentimes as the first and/or only African-American woman leader on the team, President of own business( in development) "Cultural Concept & Connections", will produce an international Black Women's podcast...and began building an international reputation in the promotion of African, African-American and Women's Rights. Also a very proud supporter and worked in the Re-Election Campaign in DC, Kentucky and Africa (Democrats Abroad) for President Barack Obama and determined to "rock the vote" for Obama and BLACK LIVES MATTER !!!! Happily Married with one son, 4 grandchildren who call me "MaKool" and along with his American citizenship also achieved duo African citizenship in Benin West Africa as a result of marriage. Still on the battlefield for African-American justice, equality and equal rights and nothing has changed but time.
