Excerpt from the USMC Command Chronologies:
On Aug 26,1967 at 11:20 pm, Company “M” platoon patrol (in the hamlet of Ha Nha in Dai Loc District) received an estimated (2,000) rounds of automatic weapons fire and (40) grenades from an estimated 30 Viet Cong in an ambush position. At the same time South Vietnamese Popular Forces platoon received (500) rounds of automatic and semi-automatic fire.

Company “M” platoon returned fire with (4,000) M-16 rounds and (25) M-26 fragmentation grenades. Company “M” Command Post fired (6,000) M-16 rounds, (2,000) M-60 (machine gun) rounds, (5) 106mm High Explosive rounds via an M-40 Recoilless Rifle, (164) 81mm illumination mortars, (104) 81mm High Explosive mortar rounds, (30) 81mm White Phosphorus mortar rounds and (1) 155mm illumination mortar round every fifteen seconds for 30 minutes. South Vietnamese Popular Forces platoon returned (800) semi-automatic rounds. Flare ship on station.

Total casualties: 1 USMC KIA (John Booth), 1 Navy Corpsman KIA (Filberto Aguirre Jr.), 1 PF (South Vietnamese Popular Forces) KIA, 9 Marines wounded (5 Medivac) and 1 PF (South Vietnamese Popular Forces) wounded.

Searched the area and found blood trails indicating 15 Viet Cong KIA. Also found brass from M-79, M-16, M-1, BAR, AK-47 and 30-caliber Carbines. Five ChiCom grenades were found and blown in place.
