I remember Bobby as a very cheerful member of my class at Milburn School. Bobby lived across the street from the school and I would see him dashing to school in the mornings and dashing home at lunch. He always had a lot of energy. I ran into Bobby while I was in the Army - in Korea, of all places. I was in the Engineers and Bobby was in the local Army band. We ran into each other purely by chance. I was a spectator at the ceremony. (I think it was a 4th of July ceremony.) I hadn't even known that he had joined the Army. I recall that he said that being in an Army band was better than being drafted, so I supposed he enlisted in lieu of being drafted.. I was later surprised to see that he retired from the Army, so I suppose he liked the lifestyle.
It is hard to imagine Bobby being gone. RIP, Bobby.
