About	Sharon Burke Monett, class of '79, died of melanoma at the age of 55 in Knoxville, TN, in August 2016. She was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her homegoing. Sharon was mother to two sons, Russell and Sean, who were the delight of her life. She was so proud of these fine young men. Sharon worked for the city transit system in marketing; she was also an accomplished photographer who was beginning to win juried shows for her art and nature photography. Sharon wouldn't want it to go unsaid that she was also a proud VFL. For those who don't know, that's a Vol for Life. She was a graduate of the University of TN, Knoxville; she wore Vol orange with tremendous pride, and cheered her Vols on with great enthusiasm and at high volume! But at the end of her life, the one thing that gave Sharon the most peace and comfort was her relationship with Jesus. She knew without a doubt that one day, she would fall asleep here on earth and wake up in the glorious presence of Christ in heaven, where there is no cancer, no pain, no suffering, and no tears. That's exactly what happened. Her friends and family miss her so much, but we live in the confidence that we shall meet her again on that beautiful shore when it is our time.
