| Favorite School Memory | I just enjoyed going to school everyday, I was so excited when I was accepted at Aviation H.S. In fact I never missed a day of school except during the teachers strike and transit strike's. Every student had the same interest, PLANES! Also there was never any racial problems at the school. Everybody got along great. And when I was there we had a good mix of all the races, Black,White, Hispanic,and Asian. Also the teacher's were excellent, they really know there trade. And many were veterans of W W 11. Some shop teachers would tell us stories of there combat roles during missions flying in B17 bombers. In fact during my attendance at Aviation(1965-1968) the Principal was Frank Woehr, who flew B17's during the war. Also I like the uniforms and the patches on the uniform stating your class rank. And seniors had blue ties and blue belts. Also the shop coveralls where cool with the green wings sewed on the back. There are so many great memories at Aviation H.S., I could write all day about them. But I must list one more. When I was a Senior, I received Wings during a Wing ceremony, and they were pinned on by a graduate of the Class 0f 1965 at Aviation H.S. who received the medal of honor for combat in Vietnam. His Name was Robert Omalley, and I was so proud to have my wings pinned on by him. Prior to the Wing ceremony there was a parade around the school in which all the students marched.
