Colonel Reginald E. Allen is currently serving as the Executive Officer to the Under Secretary of the Army. Prior to this assignment COL Allen graduated from the British Higher Command and Staff Course in the UK. COL Allen successfully served as the 73rd commander of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment (3d ACR) “Brave Rifles” deploying the Regiment to Iraq in 2010-2011. From June 2008 to April 2009 COL Allen served as the G3, III Corps and Fort Hood “American’s Armored Corps”. COL Allen has served in several key developmental and command assignments including Military Assistant to the Secretary of the Army and Future operations planner, Army G3/5/7. From June 2003 to June 2005 he commanded, 1st Squadron, 10th United States Cavalry “Buffalo Soldiers” during OIF 1 in Iraq. Prior to command his other assignments include: Assistant Deputy Director for Operations J3, National Military Command Center, the Joint Staff; Tank Battalion Operations and Executive Officer, 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor; G3 Chief of Operations, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA; Director of Strategic Planning/Director of the Advanced Warfighting Working Group, and Aide-de-Camp to the CG, US Army Armor Center Armor Center at Fort Knox, KY. Upon graduation from the Armor Officer Advanced Course at Fort Knox in 1989 COL Allen was assigned to 2d Armored Cavalry Regiment, (2d ACR) in Germany serving in the Regimental HQ as the Plans Officer and later OIC of the Tactical Command Post during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He later commanded a Cavalry Troop in the Regiment and a Tank Company in 3rd Battalion, 77th Armor, 1st Armored Division after the Regiment transferred to the US. COL Allen is from New York City and was a 1985 distinguished military graduate from North Carolina A&T State University. Upon commissioning as a 2nd lieutenant of Armor and Cavalry, COL Allen was assigned to 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO where he served in various company level leadership positions. COL Allen holds two Masters Degrees and a bachelor’s degree. He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College, the University of Louisville, the National War College, and the British Higher Command and Staff Course in the UK. COL Allen has received numerous awards and decorations in peacetime and combat including The Legion Of Merit; the Bronze Star (2 OLC); Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal (1 SLC, 1 OLC); Southwest Asia Service Medal (3BSS); Iraq Campaign Medal (1 BSS); Global War on Terrorism Medal; GWOT Expeditionary medal; Saudi Arabia Liberation of Kuwait Medal with Palm; Kuwait Liberation Medal; Valorous Unit Award (1OLC); Superior Unit Award; the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Staff badge; the Army Staff Badge, and the Parachutist Badge.
