| About Me | Here is a country song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt0Olw3RPJQ After High School I attended Southern Oregon College and received a Bachelor Degree in Business. My mother called it “Monkey Business”. After spending the summer going on a fifty mile hike with Boy Scout Troop 112 on the Pacific Crest Trail around Mount McLaughlin, I got a job at Harrah’s in Reno, Nevada, making change and paying off Jackpots. After three months I was able to move to a job as a computer operator at Harrah’s. Three years later I became an accountant at Harrah’s which lasted about two years. I met my wife at a single’s club and after we were married I started a job as the computer supervisor for McKenzie Construction which lasted about two years. I got a job as a computer operator for a company called PriMark where I moved up to computer supervisor. When the company was bought out and moved to Boston I found a job at Harrah’s for a second time as a computer programmer analyst. I stayed at Harrah’s for five years and was downsized. From Harrah’s I went to Harvey’s at Lake Tahoe where I was a programmer analyst for nine and a half years and was downsized. After a short stay at the Peppermill I decided to go back to school to learn about the microcomputer and networking. I was able to get a job as an instructor at a private business college named Morrison College and was able to teach the classes I wanted to learn. I stayed at Morrison College about five years and was promoted to chairman of the Computer Science department. After a drop in enrollment at the college I took part time jobs as an instructor at Truckee Meadows Community College and also at the University of Nevada Reno. After the part time jobs I was able to get a fulltime job at Nevada Bell as technical support for the installation of DSL service. After another downsize I went to work for a Charter Middle School and was able to get my teacher certification paid for by a grant from the Charter School. After completing my student teaching I went to work for a Montessori Charter school and helped teach first through six graders. I was able to get a Master’s degree in education from Loyola College in Maryland, again paid for by a grant from the charter school. After four years I moved to another Montessori Charter school in Carson City teaching third graders. I am now working at Truckee Meadows Community College, again, starting as a Document Tech. All five colleges and two universities in Nevada were installing a new registration system and needed the system to be documented for business processes and training. The five colleges and two universities are ready to start phase 2 with Human Resources, Finances and Budgeting. I was promoted to a Business Process Analyst for this phase of the project. I have been very blessed with my work and also with my family. My wife, Maggie, and I have been married thirty eight wonderful years this last November. We also have a daughter Karla, who married a good man named Dan, and a son Mar...(read more) |
