LUCAS: David V. Imhoff, 81, passed away early Saturday morning, January 8, 2011 at his home.

Born January 30, 1929 in Ashland, he is the son of the late E. Wanda (Stone) and Gerald E. Imhoff. He was a graduate of Ashland High School, Class of 1948, graduated from Ashland College in 1957, and then attended the Akron University and The Ohio State University for post graduate work. He taught at Madison High School from 1957 until his retirement in 1984, and coached football, golf and intramural sports. He worked for his father and upon his death, he managed Glenwood Golf Course from 1968-1974. David served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948-1952. An avid sports fan, he was a former Golden Glove boxer. He loved hunting, fishing, golf, but his most treasured moments were spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie (Farver) Imhoff; son, David Lee Imhoff and his fiancée, Paula Dion of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Susan Denise Imhoff of Hayesville; eight grandchildren, Gary D. Imhoff, Dustin W. Imhoff, Sarah J. Moritz, Lana A. Thompson, Joshua B. Gess, Jordan D. Smart, Jonathan L. Yerian and Hannah G. Yerian; two great-grandsons, Connor B. and Hunter L. Imhoff; two cousins, Robert and Mark Imhoff; brother-in-law, William F. (Linda) Farver; and sisters-in-law, Rita M. Roper and Janet J. Grabill; nephews, Gary D. (Becky) Stone and W. Reed (Debbie) Stone; and nieces, Patty Potts, Sandra J. Davies and Mary E. (Bob) Jones.

In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Audrey (Miller) Imhoff; two daughters, Cherie Lynn Imhoff and Jane Ann Imhoff Thompson; and sister, Beverly June Halsey.

Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Park Street Brethren Church with Rev. Donald Rinehart officiating. Military honors by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard will follow services at the church. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, Alzheimer's Association or Park Street Brethren Church.
