About	Andrew Gaylord Mason, 63, of 831 Center Street, Ashland, passed away on Sunday morning June 22, 2025 at UH Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland. Andrew was born in Ashland on July 8, 1961, the son of Josiah L. and Jean (Gaylord) Mason, and was a lifelong resident of Ashland. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1979, was a member of the High School Football team and for many years held the school weightlifting record. Andrew attended and graduated from the College of Wooster in 1984, and obtained his Master’s Degree in Literature from the University of Akron. Over the coming years he acquired a substantial library which he enjoyed immensely. Beginning in his early years, he attended Sunday School at the First Presbyterian Church of which he remained a member all his life. He studied the Holy Bible of which he was very knowledgeable. He remained attached to his church, although not able to attend due to his illness. While attending college he was employed in the summers by the City of Ashland and State of Ohio Highway Department during which time he made many friends. While attending college Andrew was diagnosed with schizophrenia, which he bore the rest of his life with great courage and bravery. Andrew Mason was kind and loving, and in turn was loved by his family and those who knew him. Andrew is survived by his father, Josiah L. Mason, and two brothers, Thomas L Mason and James C. Mason all of Ashland; two aunts, Marilyn (Gaylord) Link of Williamsville, New York and Martha Gaylord of Lockport, New York; as well as two nephews, Marshall L. Mason of Columbus and Aaron W. Mason of Ashland. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.Locke Mason and Dorothy (Rounds) Mason of Ashland and Roy F. Gaylord and Marion (Lamont) Gaylord of Lockport, New York and by his mother on July 2, 2020 and by his aunt Margaret (Mason) Strub on November 23, 2006. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Located at 320 Church Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 at 1:00 pm on Saturday July 5, 2025 with Pastors Justin Hylden and JoAnn Watson officiating. Calling hours will take place at the church from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Ashland Cemetery.
