Graduation Year Class of 1971
Date of Passing Aug 22, 2016
About Janet Lee Paulmenn, age 63, of Point Pleasant NJ, left her physical body and this beautiful earth on August 22, 2016. Daughter of the late Harry and Ruth Paulmenn of Clark, NJ, she leaves behind her most beloved husband David Settle, her sister Nancy Paulmenn of Wylie TX, sisters-in-law Diane Turton (Bruce) of Point Pleasant, NJ, Pamela Settle of MA, Nancy Settle of MA, Karen Khalaf of Summit NJ, Marjorie Cerick of FL, and Suzy Settle of Scotch Plains, NJ. She also leaves 14 nieces and nephews and 10 grand nieces and nephews.

Janet had a special relationship with her niece, Katie Wrenn, of Bedford TX, who was like a daughter to her and best friend. Her sisters-in-law were more like sisters to Janet. In fact, they all considered her to be the seventh Settle sister. Janet loved her cousins and her friends and had a full life because of all of them, and they were blessed in so many ways because of her.

Born on January 28, 1953, Janet attended Jacksonville University (FL), where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Cum Laude) and a Master of Arts in Teaching. She also studied at Rutgers and Kean Universities. She was an Art Educator in Atlantic Highlands NJ and Duval County, Jacksonville FL.
Janet was selected as Teacher of the Year for Justine Road School in Jacksonville FL and received the Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award for her work in Atlantic Highlands NJ. She was a recipient of the prestigious Geraldine R. Dodge Visual Artist/Educator Award and a member of Who’s Who among American Executives and Professional Women, Who’s Who Among American Teachers, a Peer Teacher, and an Associated Master Teacher. Janet’s students’ artwork was consistently recognized at the local, state, national, and international levels including Crayola’s Dream Makers and Pentel’s International Children’s Art Exhibition.

In her lifetime, Janet was gifted with many wonderful things; her loving, caring and supportive husband David; her family and friends; a career she loved; creativity; and a desire to share and help others. She was saddened to leave this all behind, but looked forward to her journey ahead. As much as Janet felt gifted by all that she had in her life, she enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her, giving her friendship, unconditional support, kindness, generosity and so much love to everyone without reservation or qualification.
