Thomas Charles Wooten, 72, was born on November 6, 1952, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Charles and Hazel Wooten. Tom's early life was shaped by his experiences as a military dependent. His father, an Air Force officer, and his mother, a former nurse, moved the family several times across the country before settling in Fort Worth, Texas, after Charles retired from the military. Tom graduated from Arlington Heights High School on June 6, 1970, and continued his education at Tarrant County Junior College. He later transferred to Texas Christian University (TCU), where he became an active member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Tom earned his degree from TCU in 1980 and began a successful career in the workforce. A lifelong history enthusiast, Tom had a particular passion for the Civil War, studying its many battles in great detail. He also enjoyed hands-on projects, including restoring a Model T Ford, a hobby he pursued throughout his life. For nearly 30 years, Tom looked forward to attending the annual Chili Cook-Off in Terlingua, Texas, which coincided with his birthday. The event, set in one of the most beautiful parts of Texas, was a special way for him to celebrate. Tom is survived by his sister, Caroline Wooten Jordan, and her husband Jerry, as well as numerous friends who cherished his company. In honor of Tom's memory, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
