Flagship USS Providence CLG-6 Com. 7th fleet in the Vietnam War 1966-1968. Was Interior Communications technician IC 3 class, E-4 and later in the Reserves became IC 2, E-5. Was on special mission to rescue prisoners of North Korea in the Pueblo incident. Fired over 30,000 rounds in two years using our 5 and 6 inch guns.. Went on two missions into North Vietnam at 4 AM in the morning. One radar was knocked out and a hatch blown off. They were firing 6 inch anti aircraft shells at us.
