Here are some edited excerpts from Leland's online obituary:

"Leland passed away peacefully at his home on December 12, 2025 following a long illness. He was a Primary Care Physician specializing in Family Medicine with an office in South San Francisco. He had a kind and gentle soul and was generous in helping others in need as well as with his knowledge of medicine and assisting those who asked. He was a humble man yet his humor was contagious. He is survived by his beloved partner Chris Weatherford. He is also survived by two nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his loving father, Dr. Manuel Luna."

"Leland graduated from Aragon High School in San Mateo CA. He attended the University of California, Irvine, Pre-Med. He graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He joined his father's medical practice in South San Francisco in 2002. He continued the practice following his father's retirement in 2016. He was dearly loved by his many patients, sales reps and loyal staff."
