| About | Jim was reported by a classmate on Facebook to be deceased. Jim was a track athlete in school. All that is known about Jim after graduation was found on another alumni site. Jim wrote a lengthy biography on Classmates.com. He has two accounts under his 1963 class, but the one entitled "James 'Jim' Adams" is where you will find information about his Navy and home life. Jim's adventures are an interesting read. Here are a few excerpts - slightly edited - from that text: "After HS graduation I fooled around at CSM, staying out of the Draft, and ended up in the Haight (Fell Street). 'Nam' sucked me in and I joined the Navy to stay 'feet wet' and not be in the jungle. Took lots of Electronics Courses and ended up a RD2 (E5)on the USS RK Turner (DLG20). Did two cruises to North Viet Nam (Northern SAR Station) and played with the Russians in the Sea of Japan. Got married in between cruises... 3 ready made step children. Got out and went to work in a bicycle shop." "I joined the Navy in '67. Went to "Electronics A Schools" (Treasure Island) for a year and went to the fleet as a seaman in San Diego and of course the ship I was assigned to was go over in a month. USS RK Turner (DLG20)..." Jim states that he met his (first) wife Jan at "David Finkis - Aragon" house. Jan passed away in 2001. His second marriage took place at Scout Camp in Big Sur. Jim did not post her name. Note: "David Finkis" is probably David Finkes who graduated in 1965. Rest in peace, Jim, and thank you for your service. |
