John's widow, Debbie, wrote to one of his former classmates: "I am sad to inform you that my husband John passed away on January 14th, 2025."
"Would like all you Aragon family to know how proud John was to be a graduate of Aragon! His time there and friends were one of his favorite topics of conversation. There is one coincidence that I would like to pass on. For those of you that remember, John was the first string center on the football team, and his number was 60. Both of his grandsons from Livermore, California are football players too. Eli, the sophomore was picked to play center, and when they passed out the jerseys, he was given the number 60."
Below is a link to Jim's Find a Grave site. He was a corporal in the US Marines Corps and was also a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force. John served in Vietnam, but in which capacity is unknown at this time.

John was my center when I played quarterback. He was a fierce competitor although not the biggest guy on the field, I always KNEW I was safe when he was in the game. More important, he was a cherished friend and I will miss him deeply..
