"Resident of San Mateo, HMB, Hayward Jack was a proud member of the Air-force during the Korean War. He graduated from Bellarmine in 1946 and earned a Bachelor's degree at San Francisco State. Jack had a 30 year career teaching English, beginning at San Mateo High and finishing at Aragon, where he impacted thousands of students. As well as teaching, he enjoyed being the head timer for Aragon's football and basketball games for many years, even after his retirement."

Great teacher. When I ran across his name on this site, it all came back. He was so energetic and interested in getting kids to listen.

Back in 1972 I remember "Mr Shackleton" for a comment or self evaluation that he considered himself to be a "non-groupist". This self evaluation is so simple and yet profound, that I remember it to this day. That describes me in a nutshell! Thank you Mr Shackleton.
