"Diane Bernard-Toy, 62, died on November 27, 2008 in Bremerton. Diane was born on May 3, 1946 to Lester and Josephine (Costello) Bernard in San Francisco, CA. She married Robert J. Toy, who later (sic) passed away in 2007. Diane worked for the US Postal Service as a mail processor. She loved animals and singing in choir. She is survived by her brother; Larry (Carol) Bernard of Gresham, OR, step-children; Kelly (Andrew) Toy of Poulsbo, Mark (Susan) Toy of Olympia, Jennifer (Leon) Toy of Poulsbo, and David (Susan) Toy of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by special friends Kim Gonzales, Leon and Erin Tucker, Ilona Peckman, and Alice Martin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Kitsap ASPCA."

Note: Diane's husband passed away after Diane by about one year. Also, her birth date should read May 31 as that is the same date that her brother was born. Read his obituary here and you'll see that he's buried in a veteran's cemetery. The military's dates on head stones are the ones from recruits' enlistment/draft papers. Diane's obituary must be a typo. It is posted here as May 31st.

Diane stated in her senior memory to help her brother get his music published. An online search is ongoing to see if that came true.
