Note: This obituary was originally posted under the 1976 class because that's what John listed his graduating class was on Classmates.com. His freshman yearbook photo was found and it turns out that he was in the 1977 class. That photo was too small to post here.
John's 2024 passing was reported on Facebook and on another reunion site. The photo here is from one of his Facebook pages. His cause of death was lung cancer.
John was born in Minnesota, according to Ancestry.com. This site also states that at the time of his death, he was married to Nancy Carrolyn, but her last name wasn't included in the information.
There was an online article that told about John's interview about the devastating Magalia Camp fire in 2018 that claimed many victims. That article has disappeared, but part of the text was been saved here.
The quote below that is from that article shows John's dedication to his parents.
"Pohmajevich said the allure of the outer regions of Butte County lie in their serenity. He moved to the area after a career as a boat mechanic to support his elderly parents who retired to Magalia after spending their lives in the Bay Area."
Another article about John's efforts during the fire is behind a Mercury News paywall and can only be posted here if it's purchased.
John had two sisters. Sharon graduated from Aragon in 1972 and can be found on Facebook and on this site.
His sister, Wendy, has a Find a Grave site that shows a newspaper article about her.

There is also an entry on this site under the 1982 class' obituaries.
