PERSONAL DATA: Home of Record: San Jose, CA Unit: VA-65, CVW-17, USS FORRESTAL, TF 77, 7TH FLEET USS FORRESTAL suffered a disaster on board that claimed the lives of two hundred seventy-seven men who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country. Of those 277 deaths, 134 were killed on 29 July 1967 while FORRESTAL and Air Wing SEVENTEEN were conducting combat operations on Yankee Station off the coast of North Vietnam.
