From the below link: "voluntarily enrolled in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge from military service, John pursued a higher education at Chico State University, where he studied Agricultural Science. Following college, he moved to South Lake Tahoe for two years. In 1978, he relocated to Modesto, California, where he soon became an Agricultural Inspector for Stanislaus County. He worked with the county for thirty-two years and retired in 2010."

"John married Lynelle Silveira in 1985, and they promptly started their family. He was a devoted husband and father. He served as an assistant coach and super fan for his childrens' sports and extra curricular endeavors."
