Here's a part of Steve's obituary: "After attending the College of San Mateo, Steve moved to Arcata where he attended and graduated from Humbolt State University with a degree in Forestry. While at Humbolt, Steve enjoyed lots of activities, when not studying! He loved to hike in the redwoods and along the beaches, and to swim in the S. Fork of the Trinity River."

"Steve left behind his sister, Susan, brother-in-law, Phil, nephew Andy, niece Sophia and stepdaughter, Georgia and her partner, Mario. He also left behind cousins in California, Nevada and Georgia."

"If you might desire to make a donation on Steve's behalf, his charities of choice were: Doctors Without Borders, Amnesty International, The Nature Conservancy, Southern Poverty Law Center and Save the Children."
