Helene Germaine attended Aragon High School. She graduated in 1971. Helene was an author, professor, and a mother of two sons.

"Mrs. Germain-Simoes died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. She was a French citizen, born Feb. 27, 1952, in Saigon, South Vietnam, the daughter of Yvon and Olga Germain. She came to the United States as an exchange student in high school. She studied three years at the Sorbonne, Paris, and later returned to the United States to teach and attend Central College, Pella, Iowa. She received a master's degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a D.E.A. diploma from the University de Provence, Aix-en-Provence, France."
"She was an instructor and professor of French at Kansas University and Baker University.
She married Antonio R.M. Simoes on Aug. 21, 1974. Other survivors include two sons, Fabio Simoes and Bruno Simoes; her parents, a brother, Sylvain Germain, Paris; two sisters, Sylvie Germain-Covey, New York, and Aline Germain-Rutherford, Toronto.
The family suggests memorials to the American Red Cross.
