Sid and I were best friends since grade school. He lived on the street behind me and we were frequently goofing around out in Foster City before it was built out, flying model airplanes, and taking photos. He was very interested in photography and later his love of airplanes and photography got him associated with the Confederate Air Force, now called the Commemorative Air Force where he got a plum seat as a B-25 tail gunner position photographing P-51's and P-40 Tomahawks up close in flight formation. So Cool!
Sid and I painted our cars in 1970, both Ranchero's and would take them camping in Yosemite. Years later I was best man at his wedding to Deborah. Not long after that, he died of a brain tumor. And not long after that his mom died of the same illness. ( then two other friends,
Steve Helman and Dennis Heckman, all from Parkside neighborhoods died of the same cancer.) I've not been able to find any information about his sister Krissy whom I taught Clarinet. I'd ran into her at a disco bar later as an adult, but that was the last time. I hope she is doing fine.
