Karen Janis Morrill
Class of 1971
After graduating from Aragon I graduated from Chico in 1976 ( 5 year plan). I majored in Social Welfare and Corrections and went on to be a Juvenile Probation Officer in San Mateo County. The first time I had a case at Aragon Mr Mahaffey my math teacher and later the Dean about fainted when I walked in to see a kid on my caseload. ( I wasn’t that bad in high school)
. I married a wonderful man in 1983 and we went on to have 3 children, 2 boys and then a girl ( phew got my daughter). We raised them in San Carlos and we still live there. All 3 of them graduated from college and are doing well. 2 live in San Mateo county and my oldest lives in Huntington Beach. I retired after 33 years - 25 of them I job shared.
Thus far I have 2 grandchildren, Caleb 3 years old and Kaia 6 months old. We babysit them 2 days a week. I am so in love with them. I’m certain more to come. We will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in May. We just got back from New Zealand and Australia. What an amazing month! Wonderful countries! We have traveled a lot in retirement and feel so lucky! I play tennis at least 3 times a week.
And one of the best things in my life is that I am still very close to Betsy, Jenny, Marce, and Nancy. aka the Sophomore Girls. We get together as often as we can and take an annual trip together every year. I love my high school gang! We are still crazy as ever! That’s a brief story of the last 50 years! Karen Janis Morrill
