About	Robert L. McCarthy, former assistant principal at Apponequet High School and the Austin Middle School, died on March 5, 2003 after a long illness. He was 69. Prior to working in the Freetown-Lakeville school system, Mr. McCarthy was a teacher and housemaster at New Bedford High School.
