About	Gary was the Editor of the (school newspaper) "AVHS-Sandpaper" in 1974 and 1975. Gary obtained a Bachelors degree in Philosophy at Arizona State University. He obtained his Masters Degree in Philosophy at University of Georgia. He attended University of Wisconsin to obtain his Doctorate degree in Philosophy: Environmental Ethics. Gary was employed as a Professor of Philosophy and Environmental Ethics at Texas A&M, from 1990 until his retirement in 2020. Prior to teaching at TAMU for 30 years, he spent a year teaching at both University of Iowa, and Washington University in St. Louis. Mr. Varner attended AV High School from 1971-1975.
