About	Shirlyn Jean Hinton Gay, 76, residing in Nashville, North Carolina, but living in Jacksonville, Florida for 74 years of her life, departed this life on September 4, 2025. A graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, Shirlyn was a homemaker for most of her life and a member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Faustine Hinton. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Gay; two daughters, Shawn Main and husband Daniel of Zebulon, North Carolina, and Jenny Sloan and husband Andy of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She had four grandchildren: Joshua Main and wife Jessica of Louisburg, NC; Ben Sloan and wife Sydney of Pendleton, NC; Abi Sloan and fiancé Justin Hereford of Meridianville, Alabama; and Allie Sloan of Roanoke Rapids. She had one beautiful great-granddaughter, Sophie Jean Sloan. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Hinton (Diane) of Rock Hill, South Carolina. Funeral services will be at the Gethsemane Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Zebulon, North Carolina, on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Daniel Main and Reverend Andy Sloan officiating. Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.
