About	Thomas Ray Ursry, 75 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 18, 2024. He was born in December 1948, to Thomas and Evelyn Bennett Ursry. He was the middle child and only son. Thomas grew up in Oceanway on the northside of Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Andrew Jackson in 1967. He went on to receive his AS degree for welding. He later became a supervisor with the City of Jacksonville. In January of 1974 he married Sandra Griffis. In 1978, they welcomed their daughter, Amy Ursry of Hilliard, Florida. Tom was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about history, specifically the history of the United States and World War II. Tom was a published author; he wrote a poem while in high school that was published in a collection of poems. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Ursry, (Griffis) and his parents (Thomas Ursry, and Evelyn Case), one sister (Kathy Gilley) and numerous aunts and uncles. He leaves behind his daughter Amy Ursry, of Hilliard; his sibling, Paula Paradiso, his sister-in-law Judy (Eddie) Ray and Rebecca Griffis, his brother-in-law John Griffis all of Jacksonville, Florida; and many nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family and friends; and his dog, Princess. Graveside services will be held on July 24, 2024, at 11am at Riverside Memorial Park on Normandy Blvd.
