About | Buried in Boyds Creek Cemetery Sevier County Tennessee Thomas Marvin Johns, Sr., age 72 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Marvin was a veteran of the United States Army where he served his country in Okinawa, Japan. He was a man that wore many hats and titles including ones throughout his years in the Masonic Brotherhood beginning in 1977. He was Past Worshipful Master of Mountain Star Lodge #197 in 1991, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, High Priest of York Rite chapter 163, and member of Sevierville chapter 138 Eastern Star. He was an employee of Dollywood for 28 years where he enjoyed taking pictures with people who thought he was “Uncle Si Robertson.” Marvin was married for 48 years to his loving wife Darlene, who he LOVED wearing matching shirts with. He was the #1 employee for his son’s business, Johns Plumbing Co. LLC where he enjoyed working with his son. He was a member of Boyd’s Creek Baptist Church since 1987. He was the caretaker of Boyd’s Creek Community Cemetery for 25 years, Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and director. He loved Hawaii and the beautiful sunsets. He was a jack-of-all-trades and would fix, tinker, or make anything he could. But with all the hats he wore and time spent, he still made time to provide for his family and for anyone who needed his help, he had a huge heart and cared for everyone else before ever thinking of himself. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Marvin Rowell; mother Pearl Thomas; step-father, Frank Thomas; brother, Alvin Johns; mother and father-in-law, Nell and Johnny McKinney; brother-in-law’s, Lawrence McKinney and Ervil Lee McKinney. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Darlene Johns, son, Tommy M. Johns Jr.; daughter, Malissa Nellene Kurtz (Brian); grandchildren, Natasha Kurtz, PFC Tommy “Lee” Johns (Krystal), and Jennifer Johns; great-grandchildren, Trinity, Khloe, and Makhi; brother, Billy A. McKinney (Barbara); sister-in-law: Martelle Clark (Rodger); nephews, Billy Johns Jr. (Ronda), and Brian Johns (Debra); special brother, Leroy Jeffers (Libby); and his Masonic Brotherhood as well as his Dollywood family.
