Gail Brantley Horton, 62, died February 12, 2011 after a very brief illness with her family by her side. Gail was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 4, 1949 to George and Betty Brantley. After graduating from Andrew Jackson High School, Gail received her BA and Masters in Education and Leadership at the University of South Florida. Gail moved to Venice, Florida over thirty years ago where she dedicated her life to teaching. Gail always saw the good in each of her students and encouraged each to be creative and expressive. Gail was an active member of South Venice Baptist Church. Gail sang in the choir and taught Sunday School at her church for numerous years. Gail was predeceased by her father George L. Brantley Jr., and her brother Chip Brantley. She is survived by her mother Betty Brantley, her son Charles Horton, her sister Tracey Carroll and favorite brother-n-law James Carroll, her nephews Matthew and Andrew Carroll and nieces Danielle and Rebecca Brantley. A Celebration of Life will be held in Venice, Florida at a later date.
