Patrick Lee Arnett was born of Thomas and Maude Arnett in Lake Butler, FL, on November 4, 1949. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1966 [1967] and North Florida Junior College, where he received the MVP in baseball and earned a position on the All-State Junior College team as pitcher and first base. He accepted a scholarship to Stetson University where he was awarded the Varsity S in baseball in 1969. Later he accepted another scholarship to play baseball for Valdosta State. He began his career with the Duval County Sheriff s Department in 1979 where he became known as Sergeant Arnett . He was a dedicated employee for 28 years and retired in 2007. Pat and his wife of 29 years loved driving out west to spend time hiking the canyons in Arizona, playing games in Las Vegas and fishing on the Dolores River in Colorado. He enjoyed long walks on the beach, tending a garden, feeding the birds and a stray cat named Bob . Most importantly, he was a wonderful husband to Laverne and a loving, caring father to his daughters Timi (Larry) and Joanna (Bryan) and the best Papa Pat ever to five grandchildren, Brad, Isabel, Drew, Declan and Toby. He will be missed but fondly remembered. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012, in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral home.
