About	Ed passed of a MI quite suddenly. The doctors said it was COVID related. Although he was diagnosed with COVID he didn't have any of the usual symptoms. He was exhausted -- sleeping and sleeping and sleeping on the sofa. He complained of back pain on Sunday (went to the ER - nothing they could be sure of.) Thursday complained of shoulder pain - back to the ER on Friday -- he was having a heart attack in the ER. they sent to a bigger hospital, where a stent was inserted and doctor estimated he'd be able to go home on Monday or Tuesday. Because of COVID - per-vaccine -- they wouldn't allow me in to see him. The only way I could find out how he was doing was to call one of the ICU nurses. I was reluctant to "bug" nurses especially at this time, but I did. They said he was doing well. I actually spoke with him once and he said they were "taking good care of him" On Sunday night, around 10:00 I received a call from the hospital saying he was having trouble and they were going to transfer him to a bigger hospital in Raleigh. I threw on some clothes -- but before I could get out the door the hospital called and said he was going into A-fib and they couldn't control it. They suggested I get there right away. When I got up to the ICU at 12:12 am they put me in two surgical gowns, two masks, booties, etc. But it was too late. He'd passed at 00:04 on January 25th. We were married for 42 years. Ed has two wonderful daughters (I won the stepdaughter lottery with those two), Lisa Corey Crounse, and Kristin Corey Eidens. Both girls are married. Lisa has a daughter, Allison, who recently graduated from college. He loved his family, our pets (although he probably wouldn't admit that), and keeping busy. When we lived in Upstate NY he sponsored and coached a semi-pro basketball team. And, of course, was a lifelong Steelers and Penguins fan! You may be able to take the boy out of Baden but you'll never take the Steelers and Penguins from him! When we moved to North Carolina in 1996 (I was transferred here for my job) he loved North Carolina. He was a gifted amateur chef and a tremendous volunteer for charities (Cystic Fibrosis Fdn, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the March of Dimes and the Hydrocephalus Association.). He made friends wherever he went. He is and will continue to be very much missed.
