About Me	I am currently working as a consultant for OnHands Schools, Pittsburgh. I also worked as a Distinguished Educator for the Pennsylvania Department of Education assisting school districts improve student achievement fromAugust 2005 until May, 2011. I retired in 2005 as Superintendent of the Frazier School District and as Adjunct Associate Professor of Education in the graduate program at Saint Francis University where I taught Educational Statistics, Research Methodology, Foundations of Education, and School Law. I received a BS from Clarion University, an MA from Indiana University, Principals and Superintendents Certification from the Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D from the University of Pittsburgh. I had thirty two years experience as a central office administrator serving as superintendent for 15 years at Frazier. I also served ten years as assistant superintendent for secondary education, six years as assistant to the superintendent, and one year as a secondary principal at the Altoona Area School District I received the 1998 Distinguished Educator Award for Exceptional Leadership for public school or university staff, presented annually by the University of PittsburghÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½s School of Education Study Council. In addition I was also selected by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in October, 2004 as one of the Top 48 individuals making a significant impact on education in public schools, colleges or universities in Western Pennsylvania. This selection was for Ã¢ï¿½ï¿½turning around a low-achieving, financially trouble district, reversing it financially and making it into one of the stateÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½s highest-achieving districts, with an above-average number of low-income children.Ã¢ï¿½ï¿½ I was recommended by the Council of Chief State School Officers to be the keynote speaker for the New Hampshire Department of Education at their 2005 institute for state school districts dealing with improving low-achieving school districts. I also served on the PDE advisory committee for PSSA and on the state work group for PVAAS. During my tenure as Superintendent, Frazier was selected as a National Model School District three times by the International Center for Leadership in Education and the Council of Chief State School Officers. I have presented at Model School Conferences throughout the United States. Frazier was also selected as the Ã¢ï¿½ï¿½largest overachieverÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½ school district in southwestern Pennsylvania by the Pittsburgh Business Times in 2005 and 2006 based on three consecutive years of PSSA scores and the districtÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½s percent of low income students.
