John Alvin Estep
Class of 1950
Air Force, 20+ Years
Enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 during the Korean War. Retired in January 1973 as a Chief Master Sergeant. Served in England, California, New York, Georgia, Nebraska and Thailand. Entered service as a High School graduate and when I left the military I had completed my Bachelors Degree at the University of Omaha, a Masters Degree at Chapman University and was working on a PhD (which I never completed), at the United Sates International University, San Diego, California. My duties in the Air Force was working in Security anad Law Enforcement the first 15 years and then cross trained into Management Engineering. I was very appreciative of the opportunities I had in the Air Force. I married in England and when I retired I had a beautiful wife and three lovely daughters, all of whom I am very proud.

Our Alleghany High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Alleghany High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated. All of us in Sparta are proud of our military alumni and want to thank them for risking their lives to protect our country!
