David died in Athens, Ga, of a glioblastoma 23 months post diagnosis. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Dr. Patricia Dwinell, daughters Kathy Bryan, Erica Stevens, Jeanine Henry, and sister Lorie Dwinell, Seattle/Santa Fe. He was proceeded in death in 1995 by his younger brother Bill Dwinell.
