National Guard, 20+ Years
4 yrs Active AIr Force, Aircraft electrian, Eventually 35 good years last 21 yrs as Army National Guard Chaplain, LTC. Did not get to finish H. S. mom put me in military on my 17th birthday and for the most part did not allow me to attend 10th, 11th or 12th grades. But i will always remember my 9th grade yr at Albany High. And those that were there then, wish i could have stayed, but it was not meant to happen. 1st wife and son have died, have a 2nd wife from Philippines and a new son that is 7 now. Along with my other 5 surviving children. Finished H.S. AT 21, got B.S. 71, about 80 got M. Ed , 84 got Ed. S. Degree , all from Brigham Young University. Just enjoyed 69 birthday, August , wife will enjoy her 32 birthday. Live in UTah,Nevada now.

Enlisted in 1961 at Oakland, CA. I was accepted into the Polaris Nuclear Submarine Program at New London, CT. I was born in Scotland, and, at that time, could only be stationed New London operating out of Scotland. My first Polaris submarine patrol was aboard the USS John Marshall SSBN 611 (gold crew). I subsequently completed six (65 day patrols before being transferred to Pearl Harbor, HI and operating out of Agana, Guam. My submarine was the USS Daniel Boone SSBN 629 (blue crew) where I completed four patrols. I finished my navy career aboard the Nuclear Fast Attack submarine USS Permit SSN 594. Our mission was to complete a 94 day patrol (all under water) leaving and returning to San Diego, CA . This patrol was during the Viet Nam war period. I thoroughly enjoyed my time serving in the US Navy Submarine Service.

Got a letter from the Army telling me to report to Oakland Army Post to get a physical for induction into the Army. Had two brothers, one marine, one Army told me to go into Army because I would probably be sent to ‘Nam. So I Ienlisted in the USAF on 3 August 1965. After Basic Training, I was sent to Chanute AFB to receive tech training as an aircraft auto-pilot specialist on Sept 1966.

- 60th Avionics Maintenance Sq., Travis AFB, CA. 1976-1970.
- 54th WRS Sq., Andersen AFB, Guam, 1970-1973.
- 552nd AMS, McClellan AFB. CA, 1973-1974.
- 605th MASS, Andersen AFB., Guam, 1974-1976
-307th CAMS/60th AMS, Travis AFB. CA. 1976-1984
-374th FMS, Clark AB, PI, 1984-1988.
-43rd AMS, Andersen AFB, Guam, 1988-1990.
-432nd FMS, Misawa AB, Japan, 1990-1993.
- 60th AMS, Travis AFB, CA, 1993-1995.
-Retired from military service in Feb 1995.
-Other Bases I’ve visited: Mendenhall RAF, England; Udorn/Korat Thai RAF, Thailand; Oscan AB, South Korea; Subic Bay, PI.; Diego Garcia.
Total military service: 29 years, 6 months.
-Employment after military: Xerox as a CSE; Bombardier SF Airport.
-Started work at retired: 2006.
